The Extended Intrinsics perform advanced functions not available in the standard intrinsic set. Some of the intrinsics are device-dependent routines that replace common calls to BIOS and DOS routines. The majority are device-independent, advanced functions that are also designed to replace BIOS and DOS routines, but they use more universal parameters and more general concepts.
