XPL0 was developed in the mid 70s by Peter Boyle and was the first widely available block structured language available for a microprocessor. It was designed to be flexible and easily portable between different computers, It started out on the 6502 Microprocessor in the pre-Apple days. When the Apple-II was released it was quickly moved to that computer and it has been migrating ever since. Current version run on the PC under both Windows and DOS.
