Round Tripping

Many of the ideas used in this program are based on ideas developed by David MacKenzie in his cave survey program Walls. (We owe debt of gratitude to David for this brilliant idea.) In Walls, the process of Merging and Morphing is called Round Tripping.  The process in the SVG Exporter is similar to Walls, but there is a different emphasis, different work flow and different user interface.

I have maintained some the same layer names as Walls so that Compass can work with Walls-generated maps and vice versa. This also enables experienced Walls users to quickly adapt to the Compass system.
