Settings Overview

Compass provides a wide range of setting that control the way projects, surveys and shots are processed. These options can be set in different places and at different levels. Here is an overview of the setting

1. Project Manager Defaults. When the Project Manager first starts running, it reads a set of defaults from the hard drive. You can set these values in the Settings Dialog Box. Normally, you would set these values to the typical values that you use for most of your surveys.

2. Project Settings. These options are saved with each project and they override all other settings. This allows a project to be processed and viewed in the same way, no matter what computer it is on. These options are set in the Project Settings Dialog.

3. Survey Settings. These options are apply to each survey separately and they are set the Survey Editor. Refer to the Editor help for more information.

4. Shot Flags. These options apply to each shot individually and they are set the Survey Editor. Refer to the Editor help for more information.

Settings Summary. Because there are a large number of settings that can be applied at the Program Level, Project Level and File Level, the program allows you to view a summary of all the settings and see which ones are in effect and which ones have been disabled. The summary is available in the Settings Summary Dialog.
