There have been several important papers published over the past 50 years on using Least Squares to close survey loops. Unfortunately, the most of them are out of print and unavailable to the public. For this reason, I have scanned the ones I have and have posted them here:

• Schmidt and Schelleng - The most widely reference article on Least Squares Loop Closure.
• Smith - A 1982 articles describing an improved technique.
